TAHOE!

I just returned from a Tahoe trip from December 26th to December 30th! Sorry no pictures, I didnt bring my camera...but I insure you, it was fun! haha

So Eddie, Iku (Eddie's NY friend), and I got this cabin in Tahoma (Lake Tahoe, West Shore) for a few days to RIDE! When we got there, it looked pretty bad, as in NO SNOW. We rode a half day at Homewood and it was pretty bad...only 1 lift open and about 2 runs. There were rocks and dirt showing thru the runs~ NOT FUN!

We all had only a few hours of sleep the previous night so when we got back, we were dead tired, made dinner, and slept at about 9pm! (by the way, this whole trip, we slept at about 9-10pm! The first time i've ever slept at before 10pm for 4 nights in a row! haha)...

That night it started to snow! ^_^ We woke up at 6am to find about a foot of snow on the ground!

We headed to Squaw and it was beautiful! It was still snowing, which ment less people! We rode all day and enjoyed the powder and the short lines. I was happy because I was bundled and had the right equipment! It stopped snowing half way thru the day, and left a good dusting over the landscape. After we got done, we went back, cooked and passed out at 9 again! haha IM GETTING OLD!

The next day was SUPER DAMN COLD! In the morning, it was 5 degrees with a wind chill of -10 degrees! Time to break out the hand warmers! We rode at Alpine Meadows for this day, and it was WINDY as hell! Super windy, Super Cold!!! -_- We got some good runs in, especially towards the end. We found this run with pretty nice powder and rode that for a few. By the end of the day, my legs were feeling great! TEARING IT UP! haha.
...and went back, dinner, slept by 9pm.

Our last day riding was Friday. The weather was sunny and warm, plus it being a weekend equals BUSY MOUNTAINS! We decided to go to Squaw again. This time the winds were dying down so more runs were open, especially towards the summit. I was burning up since I had way too many layers on~ oh well. We hit the back side towards Granite Cheif were they just opened a bowl in the back. POWDER! we hit that a few times and it was great. Too bad my legs were really feeling it by now and this is where I ate it, not once, but TWICE! haha. By the end of the day, I WAS BEAT. Iku was a bit tired by now and she had bruises on her shins, so she headed down to the lodge. Eddie and I went up to the summit again...it was a bit bumpy and icey and our legs were KILLING us! It was hard for us to make it down the final run! PLUS it was crazy busy and we had to dodge a million people on the way down! Im glad this was the last day. I was seriously going to collapse! We all went back and showered (separately..haha) and headed to dinner. We ate at this spot on the river, and had a drink. It was good, but expensive. THANKS IKU~

That brings us to today, where we woke up, make breakfast, packed the car and came home. It feels weird being home for some reason. I walked in, and just stood there. I dont know what it was but it felt reallly weird. As I write this, things seem to feel normal again. Maybe it was the feeling of a "non-digital" week right after 3 months of being stuck at the compter! Time to clean up, laundry, and finally check my email (after the longest ive gone without checking my email in SUCH a long time).

RECAP

It was fun, I really couldnt ask for better conditions. If that foot of snow didnt fall, it would have been bad! Thanks Eddie for the trip, you're a pretty good snowboarder. Thanks for the tips and let me know how much I owe you. haha
Iku, it was a pleasure meeting you and you seem really cool. Thanks for dinner and I PROMISE i'll get you back when I visit New York! -_^

*sigh* as i sit here bored/tired/hungry in the lab, i really DO have better stuff to do but dont feel motivated enough to really do anything, but post i guess. haha well, i just finished video for my DVD menu/transisitions etc..and i have about an hour before class. Im going to get some food in a few minutes so there's not really enough time to start on a good project session~

7 DAYS LEFT and counting!!

pros and cons i guess.

pros...well, i guess 7 days left of this semester!
cons...haha, umm design and finish, print, mount, MAKE the rest of my campaign for HBO by MONDAY. That includes Stationery Collaterial, Video ID Bumper, a few web banners, 2007 New Series Press Kit, Mailout Brochure (or in my case, a DVD-style mailout with booklet, kinda like the press kit), and a retail DVD (sleeve, case labels, booklets). I have to make the Press Kit for 3 different new shows plus design and make folders to hold the press kits. Also, a 20+ page PDF of the entire campaign. AND print and mount flat files for boards! oOOo this weekend is going to be fun!

ALSO FOR MONDAY...
I have to make a DVD, menus/transisitions, and re-render all my videos into the DVD format. Included in this DVD is the individual pieces Ive made, both Motion Graphics and Video, a slideshow of print work, and a Show Reel (which is an edit of all your works, into another single work...kinda like a video mixtape).

THEN...from MONDAY to THURSDAY...
I have to create a catalog website that utilizes CSS, PHP, SQL and a DATABASE...right now I only have a Photoshop Comp...YEAH! -_-

imma be soooooo damn happy when this semester is over! until then BLAH!

OK TIME TO EAT....~

Atmosphere - A Song About a Friend

:: Indirect ::

IM BACK ( for now )
Ahhh, yes, yes, it's been such a long time since i've posted something...
This is for a few reasons actually...

First, Ive been super busy with work (in general). Last semester killed me! It seems like with every semester that passes, the projects get longer and longer! I had NO time what-so-ever to post during the Spring semester and as soon as that finished, I was up in Santa Rosa helping my family work on our 2nd house (which is a renter). But, basically everything was re-done. I mean EVERYTHING was done—new floors consisting of hardwood, carpet and tile/stone. New walls, new doors, new cabinets, new appliances. Well, all that stuff took up the month break I had before I started Summer classes.

:: untitled ::

Now, Summer classes have started and Im taking Senior Project Studio and Business Law. It basically feels like a regular semester because, even though it's only 7 weeks instead of the normal 15, we meet twice a week, so in a sense, it's harder because we have half the time to work on it! But all of you know what Im talking about anyways...

:: Dark Thoughts ::

AND, when I wanted to post, there was a list of stuff I wanted to include, such as pictures of projects, and random photography, new header...blah, blah, blah... And there was always real work that took presidence.

Well, the other reason why I didnt post until now was the fact that A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE BEEN GETTING THEIR WORK JACKED!!! I know Im not an Ansel Adams or anything great, but it really pisses me off that people would jack other people's work... I mean, just do it yourself, dammit! grrr.....

:: Detached ::

So, I probably wont be putting up any of my design work, or a very limited amount.

[[ this might work out since Im building a portfolio site hopefully by the end of this summer! ]]

jd_infinite...

The header on my page is from a typography project last semester. The main goal was to create a fully functional, open-type, typeface (font). I decided to create ALL the glyphs—which is about 225 characters. The header image was part of my magazine spread. I basically wanted the photograph only so I took out all the body type. This font is cross-platform and includes basically any character you can think of. The metrics of this font are complete such as general kerning, and various kerning pairs. (xanga price: $50!) =P

Motivation...

Lately, Ive been feeling a strong force of a LACK of MOTIVATION...! I dont know what it is... I have some assumptions and such but no one factor that's making me feel this way...

I think a part of it is the fact that there's nothing to look forward to. I mean, there are no fun activities/vacation planned for my near future. I just have work, work, cleaning, more work, then graduation. Yea, yea, graduation is something to look forward to, but that's a year away!

Also, I would like to be doing creative stuff that doesnt pertain to any work, but dont have time! I guess I'll have to try to make time!

So, on this thought, what motivated me to write a post? Ahh, which brings me to the next topic...

Picking Up the Pen...

Now that I think of it, it's pretty ironic how I was just talking with a good friend about not being satisified in her life. My suggestion and example was to pick up the pen to your life and start to make changes that you dont like. A few days later, she broke up with her bF [ it was for the better ]. Anyways, I've been thinking about it, and since im not completely estatic with my life, I need to pick up my pen and start writing a new chapter...easier said than done huh?!

Promiscuous...

Question: Is it wrong to end a friendship because you dont agree with their style of life...?

I know this is kinda vague, but, I really care for this person, and I dont think they make the right decisions. I try to advise them, but they never heed my suggestions. I know that it's their own life, but with every bad decision, I feel bad (because I care about their well-being)...

Am I just being an asshole?!

Im almost to the point of saying...IM DONE...good luck in life~
because... i dont want to see them in post-bad-decision times...

haha ok, im done talking out of my ass...so if you got this far...thanks! In retrospect, this is a boring post and I guess Im just venting since none of you guys (and gals) probably think this is interesting!
